Blooming Ayurvedic Medical Tourism in Kerala

Kerala, God’s Own Country is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Asia. Kerala has a unique place in tourism map for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Apart from this nature and culture, Kerala has a unique opportunity in the field of Ayurvedic medical tourism.

It’s suggested that Ayurveda and West came to know through spice trade, exchanging plants and pharmaceuticals years ago. Tips and advice were passed orally like old wive’s tale through ages. Even though they had a slight knowledge about Ayurveda, they didn’t have much importance to that.

Ayurvedic medical tourism emerged when more tourists came in seek of Ayurvedic treatment and Yoga. Many of them are coming not only for treatment but also for learning the basic principles of Ayurveda and Yoga and carry that knowledge to establish in their motherland. The immense side effects of modern medicines decreased the level of immunity, lack of treatment for chronic conditions etc led the people to turn towards Ayurveda and Yoga. The main benefit of Ayurveda is that it has least or no side effect at all.

Ayurveda and Yoga have been originated more than 5000 yrs ago through vedas. Still, the complete knowledge of Ayurveda is not evaluated by any scholar.
Ayurveda is like a religion, one who strictly follows the rules and regulations of Ayurveda will achieve a high quality of life. Ayurveda helps to improve the longevity of life and health of healthy and cures the disease of ill health of the root. It rejuvenates the body and improves the immunity of the individual. Both Ayurveda and Yoga considers and studies man in his wholeness – body, mind and spirit and is integrated to certain principles, ideas, values, attitudes and a way of life for personal and social benefits.

There are many efficient Vaidyas with the great Ayurvedic knowledge passed over through generations, who have not yet come to the mainstream of treatment. There are many Vaidyas who has the Ayurvedic knowledge of treating many chronic diseases which cannot be done by other systems. Here we are putting a small effort to bring their knowledge into the light for the those who need it most.
